Systems and
Components
Description Operating Modes Injectate Catalyst Compounds
HRSG Cont. process to produce
steam. This steam was
directly injected into the
gas turbine to augment
power.
traditional manner –
it was used to augment
power in the gas turbine.
None None
Ammonia
Injection/Slip
System
Ammonia was added to the
stream of exhaust flue and was
adsorbed onto the Selective
Catalytic Reduction System
(SCR) catalyst. Ammonia that
was not reacted is called
ammonia slip.
The ammonia injection
system was in continuous
operation with the gas
turbine.
Ammonia (NH3) None
Catalytic Oxidation
Reduction System
Carbon monoxide (CO) and
hydrocarbons (HC) are converted
in the oxidation catalyst to carbon
dioxide and water vapor which are
non-toxic gases. The conversion
of CO and HC in the catalyst
requires oxygen. Oxidation
catalyst systems frequently
require that extra air, called
secondary air, be introduced into
the exhaust system in front of the
catalyst.
The catalytic oxidation
reduction system was in
continuous operation with
the gas turbine.
Air The catalyst is an
Engelhard Corporation
monolithic structure
(honeycomb) coated with a
proprietary precious metal
combination. Engelhard
Corporation was acquired
by the German company
BASF in 2006.
Continuous
Emission
Monitoring System
(CEMS)
The CEMS consisted of a
sample probe, filter, sample
line, gas conditioning
system, calibration gas
system, and a series of gas
analyzers.
The CEMS was in continuous
operation while the gas turbine
was operating.
None None
SCR The SCR is a means of
converting nitrogen oxides with
the aid of
a catalyst into diatomic
nitrogen and water.
Ammonia is added to a stream
of flue or exhaust gas and is
adsorbed onto the catalyst.
The SCR system was in
continuous operation while the
gas turbine was operating.
Ammonia (NH3) The catalyst used was a
proprietary metal oxide
design by Foster
Wheeler Energy
America. The SCR
catalysts were typically
made from various
ceramic materials used
as a carrier. Active
catalytic components
were usually either
oxides of base metals
(such as vanadium,
molybdenum and
tungsten), or various
precious metals.
Diesel Generator None Not applicable Not applicable Not applicable
