4. All nails shall be commonwire nails . Nailing shall be in <br /> accordance with the 1970 Uniform Building Code. <br /> 5. Roof sheathing shall be Structural I, Structural II , C-C <br /> Exterior or Standard sheathing with exterior glue all sheets <br /> shall bear a grade mark of the American Plywood Association. <br /> 6. Siding shall be inverted board batten, saw textured , all <br /> • heart redwood plywood as manufactured by SIMPSON or equal. <br /> F. DOOR <br /> The pump house door shall be 3 '-0" x 6 '-8" x 1-3/4" flush type <br /> hollow metal door, formed of 18 gauge (minimum )cold rolled , <br /> stretcher leveled steel face sheets , turned over and fully <br /> covering all vertical edges . The door shall have 16 gauge <br /> (minimum) steel stiffeners along edges anc ends , and shall be <br /> substantially braced with internal stiffeners so that the face <br /> sheets will not buckle. The door shall be factory prepared and <br /> reinforced to receive hardware. Door hardware, except hasp, shall <br /> be brass with dull bronze U .S. 10 finish. The hardware shall <br /> consist of the following items : <br /> l pairs fixed pin hinge butts Gov't No. T2127 <br /> One passage latch Gov't 161N or 86N <br /> One heavy duty galvanized steel safety padlock hasp �,rith <br /> case hardened vertical staple and slotted leaf at least <br /> 6" long, securely bolted to door and frame. Slotted leaf <br /> to cover bolt heads . Furnish one keyed padlock. <br /> G. `100D SHAKES <br /> 1. Each bundle of wood shakes for roofs shall bear the label <br /> of an approved inspection bureau or agency certifying <br /> compliance with U.B.C. Standard No. 32-8-70. <br /> 2. Shakes may be laid i.n straight or staggered courses . Shakes <br /> shall be laid with a side lap of not less than one and one-half <br /> inches (11) between joints in adjacent courses . Edges shall <br /> be parallel within one inch (1" ) Spacing between shakes <br /> shall be not more than one-half inch ( " ) . <br /> Each wood shake shall be fastened to the sheathing with <br /> two nails only. The starter course at -the eaves shall be doubled <br /> and the bottom or first layer may be either fifteen-inch (15" ) <br /> or eighteen-inch (18" ) wood shakes or wood shingles . Fifteen- <br /> inch (15" ) or eighteen-inch (18" ) shakes may be used for the <br /> final course at the ridge. <br /> Shakes shall be laid with not less than eighteen-inch (18" ) <br /> wide strips of not less than 30-pound felt shingled between <br /> each course in such a manner that no felt is exposed to the <br /> weather below the shake butts . <br /> (50) <br />
