C
areas. It is suspected that the gravel pit(s) on this property may have been filled with
wastes during the time the SSDS was operating.
Based on review of a September 1951 aerial photograph, the area identified as a gravel pit
on the USGS topographic map appears to correspond to dredge tailings. This is based on
another nearby area as shown on the September 1951 photograph with a similar
appearance of parallel, linear, positive relief features which on the USGS topographic map
is identified as dredge tailings. The origin of this apparent dredged material is not known. B.
I. McNalley ETL owns the McNalley property. FF ESTS (APN 249-060-10).
1.2. Site Security
Based on observation during the May 1, 2001 site visit by the LEA and CIWMB staff, site
security includes wire fencing on all sides of each of the Bill Lane IDS, Lynch IDS, and the
Beard property. The Lynch IDS, triangular in shape, is adjacent to the northern boundary of the
Bill Lane IDS, and has an excavated, open trench, approximately four wide by four deep,
extending across its southern boundary line then along the eastern boundary line, adjacent to
Santa Fe Road, to the northern point of the apex to prevent site access. The Bill Lane IDS has
gated access from Santa Fe Road on its eastern boundary. The McNalley property has a private
residence and is generally surrounded by a fence with access into the driveway from.Henry
Road, on its eastern boundary.
1-7
