SITE DESCRIETLC,14 <br />Accessability to the site is fran Austin Road which intersects both <br />French Can -p Road, 3 miles south of the site, and Mariposa Road, 2� miles <br />north of the site. State Highway 99, which connects Manteca with Stockton, <br />is located 2 miles west of the site. Interchanges on State Highway 99 at <br />French Camp Road and Mariposa Road provide convenient freeway access. <br />The 110 acre landfill is divided by the County -maintained Littlejohn <br />Creek. Access to the landfill area north of the creek will be by easement <br />for ingress -egress along the extended north property line of the site out ' <br />to Austin Road. Access to the landfill area south of the creek will be <br />directly off Austin Road at the southeast corner of the landfill area. <br />B - Topography <br />The terrain at the site and in the surrounding vicinity consist of a <br />relatively featureless plain, which slopes gently downward to the southwest <br />at a rate of approximately 6 feet per mile. These features are altered by <br />the Forward Inc. landfill operations to the east, Littlejohn Creek traversint <br />the site, and the City of Stockton landfill to the north and northwest. <br />Elevations on the Stockton landfill have been raised approximately fifteen <br />to twenty feet above original grade by the cut and cover landfill operation. <br />The Littlejohn Creek traverses both the Forward Inc. property and proposed <br />County landfill property in a southwesterly direction separating the site <br />into two distinct areas, one north of the creek containing approximately <br />two-thirds of the site and one south of the creek containing the other one- <br />third of the site. The Forward Inc. landfill operations extend fran Austin <br />Road easterly approxiamtely 850 feet and is confined north of the creek. <br />A resource recovery and transfer station operation exists south of the creek. <br />The topography of the Forward operation is characterized by landfill along <br />Austin Road cresting to forty feet above the natural ground surface. Several <br />disposal trenches and ponds have been constructed just west of the landfill <br />for the Class 1 operations. The general locations of these -topographic <br />features appear in the plates for this report. <br />C. Land Use <br />Acreage in the vicinity of the site is zoned GA -40 (40 acre agricultural <br />preserve land) and is used primarily for cultivated row crop land. The <br />Forward Inc. operations and City of Stockton Class 2-2 landfill operations <br />are designated as solid waste disposal sites in the County General Plan. <br />The Northern California You Authority Center, located lh miles due <br />north of the site and the Stockton metropolitan Airport (end of runway) are <br />the only land uses other than agriculture in the vicinity of the site. <br />
