Box 990
Stockton, California 95201
Re: Cleanup of illegal Dump Site
Dear Mr. Irey:
In our recent telephone conversation, you informed me of a criminal
prosecution you are bringing against the operator of an illegal
dump site. You stated you are interested in putting mandatory
cleanup language in the terms of probation. Such an order should
require the offender to 1) cease and desist in the illegal
acceptance of solid waste, 2) cleanup the property and abate any
nuisance in accordance with an approved site investigation and
remediation plan, and 3) close the facility per applicable laws and
regulations.
To implement such an order, you should contact the Local
Enforcement Agency for San Joaquin County:
Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
1601 E. Hazelton Avenue
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
You can contact the Director, Ron Valinoti, or Alan Biederman. We,
at the California Integrated Waste Management Board, are encouraged
that District Attorney's are prosecuting cases against operators
of illegal sites. If I can be of any further help, do not hesitate
to call.
4 S 'ilnc ly,
Steven R Sph r
SS is
t* Ch*ef Counsel
Assistant Zer Counsel
--Printed on Recycled Paper
