CONCLUSIONS AND OPERATIONS / MAINTENANCE PLAN
It is well-known that an enormous amount of trash is flushed down public toilets. By substantially
increasing the trash/surge tank volume to 10k gallons, this will assist in retaining both trash and
excessive organic matter before influent treatment.
The 10k gallon tank and the three compartment grease interceptor tank must have pump-out service
on a regular basis. After the entire system becomes operational, the trash/surge tank and grease
interceptor tank shall be monitored monthly to determine pump-out intervals. It is anticipated that
pump-out intervals will be quarterly, at a minimum.
Upgrading the three EnviroServers of the MicroSepTec system will produce an effluent that should
meet State standards of 90 ppm BOD, 90 ppm TSS, and 10 ppm Total Nitrogen (TN). Total nitrogen
analysis shall consist of Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN - total of ammonia and organic nitrogen
fractions), and nitrate/nitrite concentrations. Preferably, the ammonia nitrogen fraction should be
analyzed so that the organic fraction can be calculated from the TKN concentration. Effluent samples
should be analyzed quarterly for the first year of operation and semiannually from years two through
five. After five years, yearly analysis shall be conducted.
Although the percolation tests demonstrate some relative permeability within the proposed leachfield
(the current 100% replacement area), the soils in this area reveal high density and severely compacted
silt, as illustrated in the attached photographic plates.
Consequently, the new leachfield will have imported engineered fill that meets the permeability
specifications. As noted from the soil laboratory test results, the proposed import material meets all
of the referenced specifications provided by the distribution curve characteristics.
The current primary disposal area now becomes the replacement area, so that if there is a failure with
the new leachfield, this current disposal area must be rebuilt as a mirror image. Then the two
leachfields can alternate back and forth to allow leachfield rest and rehabilitation as referenced in the
scientific literature.
This Report and Design Plans have been supplied to Mr. Greg Applegate of Applegate Septic and
Sewer, Inc. who has been selected by Mr. Singh, as the contractor who will complete all specified
construction.
Page-5-
Chesney Consulting
