3 . Acute withdrawal reactions such as violent shaking, <br /> or sweating/clammy skin. <br /> 4 . Lack of consciousness or inability to respond to <br /> verbal or physical communications . <br /> 5 . Erratic, heavy or labored breathing. <br /> B. If there is a doubt about the health of the arrestee, <br /> the Jailer shall notify the Watch Commander who will <br /> make the determination of whether the prisoner should <br /> be taken to the hospital to be checked. <br /> C. The detoxification cell shall be used to hold adult <br /> male offenders . Female offenders will be placed in <br /> this cell when it is unoccupied or occupied by other <br /> female prisoners. Female prisoners will not be placed <br /> with male prisoners . If the detoxification cell is <br /> occupiedmale, the female offender will be <br /> transportcounty jail . Prisoners should <br /> not be detoxification cell over 6 hours . <br /> If ancannot be released or moved to another <br /> cellhours of arrest, the Jailer shall notify <br /> tCommander to determine if the prisoner should <br /> be checked by medical personnel . (Revised 9/97) <br /> D. Inebriated persons will be checked no less than every <br /> 30 minutes . The Jailer shall observe the prisoner' s <br /> breathing and will speak with each person to insure <br /> their medical condition is not deteriorating. The <br /> Jailer should encourage them to sleep on their <br /> sides in case they should vomit in their <br /> sleep. (Revised 9/97) <br /> E . Unconscious arrestees shall not be placed in the <br /> detoxification cells without medical clearance. <br /> SUICIDE PREVENTION <br /> I. PURPOSE: To establish a procedure to attempt to <br /> identify persons that may have suicidal tendencies and to <br /> outline procedures for their processing, monitoring and <br /> confinement or release. <br /> II. REFEREUCES: Title 15 California Code of Regulations, <br /> Section 1219 . <br /> III. PROCEDURES: During the arrest and booking processes, <br /> officers and Jailers should be sensitive to indications <br /> that a prisoner might be suicidal so that preventive <br /> measures can be taken. <br /> 37 <br />
