ESCAPE, DISTURBANCE AND TAKING OF HOSTAGES <br /> ESCAPE <br /> In the case of a successful escape, the following procedures should be followed: AT NO TIME are other <br /> persons in custody to be left alone in the court room unattended. <br /> Only one (1) deputy will give pursuit. The nearest law enforcement agency will immediately be notified <br /> that an escape has occurred. All available information on the escapee will be given to the agency. The <br /> information should include complete name, full description, direction of flight, charges held for and any <br /> other available information, such as weapons,etc. <br /> The remaining custodies, if still in the court room, shall immediately be returned to the holding cell. The <br /> custodies shall be left in the cell until order can be restored in the court room. <br /> DISTtiRBANCES <br /> Anytime there is any disturbance within the courtroom, all custodies will be immediately returned to the <br /> holding cell. The custodies shall remain in the holding cell until order is restored in the court room. <br /> If one of the custodies is the cause of the disturbance, that custody shall immediately be removed from the <br /> court room. If there is no problem with any of the other custodies, they may remain in the court room. <br /> The custody causing the disturbance maybe returned to the holding cell,or if the problem persists, should <br /> be transported back to the San Joaquin County Jail. At no time should the problem custody be allowed to <br /> continue to cause a disturbance in the holding cell,court room or court house proper. <br /> TAKING OF HOSTAGES <br /> Should a hostage or hostages be taken, the deputies shall immediately secure the area. The deputies shall <br /> ensure all personnel are safely evacuated from the hostage scene, if possible. <br /> The local police department shall immediately be notified and their assistance requested. Upon their <br /> arrival, command of the scene shall be turned over to the on scene supervisor. <br /> At no time will the safety of the public or civilian employees be jeopardized. <br /> 7 <br />
