EMERGENCY PROCEDURES <br /> FIRST AID KITS <br /> First Aid Kits shall be available and readily accessible by the staff. The kits shall be periodically <br /> inspected by the deputy assigned to this task. A check/inspection list shall be compiled indicating the <br /> required contents of the kits. The sergeant will assign a deputy to make monthly inspections. <br /> NATURAL DISASTERS <br /> In the event of a natural disaster(earthquake, etc.).the custodies shall be led out of the holding facility. <br /> The custodies may, if possible, be put into the transportation van for security or for transportation back to <br /> the San Joaquin County Jail. The steps taken will depend on the type and seriousness of the incident. <br /> PERIODIC TESTING OF EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT <br /> Fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and alarms shall be checked by the Fire Marshal. The results shall <br /> be documented and sent to San Joaquin County Government Buildings Department for filing/report. <br /> FIRE SUPPRESSION PREPLANNING <br /> Due to the unique construction of the holding cells (cinder block, steel benches and toilet facilities) there <br /> is little chance of fire occurring in the cell. To further reduce this risk, it shall be jhe policy of the <br /> Sheriffs Court Services personnel to collect all matches and tobacco from prisoners prior to transporting <br /> them <br /> EVACUATION OF FACILITY IN CASE OF FIRE <br /> In case of a fire«vithin the facility. the following steps shall be followed: <br /> 1. The kev(s) shall be obtained from the permanent location next to the cells. <br /> 2. The custodies will be released from the cells and taken from the building. The custodies will be <br /> under the control of at least two(2)deputies. <br /> The egress route. if at all possible, will be out the rear door into the enclosed sall}port area. <br /> 8 <br />
