Mr. Jeff Tierney, E.I.T. GeOSynteC D
July 1, 2022 consultants
Page 5
Groundwater Sampling
Within 48 hours after completion of the soil vapor sampling, groundwater samples will be
collected from groundwater monitoring wells MW-27, MW-5B and MW-7B for analysis of 1,2-
DCP, 1,2,3-TCP, and chloroform, and DBCP in the sample from MW-5B (per the site's
Monitoring and Reporting Program6, only samples from MW-5B are analyzed for DBCP).
Groundwater sampling will be performed after conclusion of soil gas sampling to avoid potential
issues associated with perturbing the soil gas in the vadose zone near to the SVPs, which may
occur during the purging and/or sampling of the monitoring wells. The groundwater sampling will
be performed as part of the routine Q3-2022 groundwater monitoring event. The specific procedure
that will be used for sampling monitoring wells MW-27, MW-5B and MW-7B is described in
sections 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 of the Work Plan. Groundwater samples will be submitted under chain-
of-custody procedures to a California-certified analytical lab, Eurofins-Calscience of Garden
Grove, California, for analysis of the selected VOCs noted above.
Investigation-Derived Waste
Soil cuttings, purge water and any other investigation-derived waste (IDW) will be temporarily
stored in 55-gallon drums at the site. The IDW will be profiled and disposed of at an appropriate
off-site facility.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS AND DATA VALIDATION
Soil Samples
The soil samples collected during the installation of the off-site SVPs will be analyzed at Cooper
Testing for the following:
• Total porosity by American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM
International) D7263;
• Moisture content by ASTM International D2216;
• Volumetric water and air content;
• Bulk density by ASTM International D7263b; and
• Grain size by ASTM International D422.
Soil Vapor Samples
Soil vapor samples collected from each of the six SVPs will be submitted under standard chain-
of-custody procedures to Eurofins Air Toxics for analysis of 1,2-DCP, 1,2,3-TCP, DBCP, and
chloroform by United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method TO-15 and
6 California Regional Water Quality Control Board.2013.Monitoring and Reporting
Order No.R5-2013-0800,January 23,2013.
engineers I scientists I innovators
