Box 2009 Stockton, CA 95201 SUBJECT: Soil Boring Work Plan Forward Landfill San Joaquin County, CA. Dear Mr. Olivera: • As per our telephone conversation on April 22, 1991, I am writing to briefly explain the next phase of assessment planned at Forward Landfill. Four soil borings will be drilled along the east boundary of the landfill as shown on Plate 1. These borings will be drilled to a depth of approximately 80 to 90 feet. The purpose of the borings is to drill to a point at or just above the ground water surface and then extract a ground water sample using a BAT Probe. After the samples are collected, the borings will be sealed to the surface with neat cement or cement/bentonite grout. The borings will be drilled using a truck mounted drill rig equipped with hollow stem augers. Drilling and sampling equipment will be steam cleaned or washed with trisodium phosphate and rinsed with distilled water between borings and after collecting each sample. Soil cuttings will be piled adjacent to the borings and will be removed by landfill personnel and disposed of in the active landfill. As per our conversation, details of the drilling and sampling procedures are not required for this boring permit to be issued. The following forms and appropriate fees are enclosed so that a boring permit can be issued. ► Application for county boring permit with $89 payment. The application has been signed by a Kleinfelder staff geologist. Health and safety plan for the proposed work. It is our understanding that additional fees beyond the $89 provided will be billed to Kleinfelder.
