10 Spill Response(Oil—Dryer Water) (If Applicable) <br /> Spills under the reportable quantity (RQ) and not released to a navigable waterway shall be cleaned up in-house and <br /> disposed of in accordance with state and federal regulations. Spills above the RQ must be immediately contained and <br /> reported to the appropriate state and federal agencies. <br /> 10.1 Discovery of a Release <br /> In the event of a release of a hazardous material,the following actions shall be performed: <br /> ❑ All potential sources of ignition shall be extinguished <br /> ❑ If the ignition source is stationary, spilled material shall be moved away from the source <br /> ❑ Sparks and movement creating static electricity shall be avoided <br /> ❑ The SDS shall be used to identify the material released based on the listed characteristics <br /> ❑ Simple procedures (e.g. turning valves, plugging leaks, etc.) shall be attempted if safe to do so <br /> ❑ Spill notification and reporting procedures shall be initiated (See Level 3 &4 Incidents) <br /> ❑ If there is an immediate threat to human life (e.g. a fire or asphyxiation), personnel shall be evacuated and <br /> 911 shall be called <br /> 10.2 Containing a Release <br /> Any hazardous material released outside of a containment area must be contained as quickly as possible.To contain a <br /> hazardous material release, responding technicians shall: <br /> ❑ Attempt to stop the release at the source <br /> ❑ Unless: <br /> o The source of the release cannot be found <br /> o Special protective equipment is necessary to approach the release area <br /> o Assistance is required to stop the release <br /> ❑ Notify the appropriate agencies (see emergency contact list) <br /> ❑ Consult the SDS for material compatibility and environmental precautions <br /> ❑ Recover or clean up the material spilled <br /> ❑ Properly containerize and label all recovered material <br /> ❑ Clean up areas contaminated by the release promptly <br /> ❑ Minimize clean up material, and contain and properly dispose of it when done <br /> ❑ Contact Corporate Safety or Safety Kleen to arrange for disposal <br /> ❑ Transport all waste in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations <br /> L/CNG Emergency Response Plan �, Clean Enerav- 9 <br />
