MATERIALS: <br />SCHEDULE: <br />DOCUMENTATION -RECORDS <br />All Biohazardous liquid waste products will be: <br />Strained through a metal screen to remove soft tissue, <br />particles, sharps and any non -disposable contents. <br />Treated with a decontaminant solution (bleach) prior to <br />disposal down the existing sink and sewer system. <br />Spills or contact with walls, door handles, light switches etc. <br />will be cleaned as follows: <br />Spray decontaminant solution (Maxima 128) on areas for a <br />Minimum of 10 minutes. <br />Wipe surface clean and dry- discard towel in a <br />Biohazard container. <br />There will be on-site a minimum of two freezers for <br />Storage of - <br />1 -"Clean" pathological material -specimens <br />2-Biohazardous waste -90 day maximum <br />There will be on-site containers for Sharps and <br />Biohazardous waste, both linen and trash <br />These materials will be used in the designated LAB area <br />Only and will not be removed, except for disposal, to any <br />Other area of the Pacific Medical Facility. <br />All materials are to be used as set forth in this guideline <br />And are not to be used for any purpose outside of the <br />Scope of this directive. <br />Biohazardous waste shall be picked up on a weekly <br />basis. Scheduled pickups shall coincide with all labs <br />to have pickup within 7 days. <br />All waste shall be packaged and labeled PRIOR to arrival <br />Of the waste pickup schedule and those items requiring <br />Special handling or packaging shall be so arranged before <br />The time of pickup. <br />Any unscheduled pickup of Biohazardous waste shall be <br />Arranged through Stericycle, whose responsibility it will be <br />To notify the Environmental Health & Safety Dept. at least <br />2 days prior to the scheduled pickup. <br />No treatment of the medical waste occurs on site. <br />Biohazardous waste disposal records (manifests), service <br />
