HAZELTON AVENUE STOCKTON CA 95205 <br /> iFORBUSINESS PHONE : ( 209 ) 468 - 3380 <br /> The San Joaquin County Fire Chiefs ' Association has adopted the following guide for providing fire <br /> apparatus access roads as required by the current edition of the California Fire Code ( CFC ) . <br /> Fire apparatus access roads shall be provided for every facility , building , or portion of a building <br /> constructed or moved into or within the jurisdiction when any portion of the facility or any portion of an <br /> exterior wall of the first story of the building is located more than 150 feet from fire apparatus access as <br /> measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building or facility . The fire apparatus access <br /> road shall comply with the requirements of this standard and shall extend to within 150 feet of all portions <br /> of building or facility . <br /> General . <br /> 1 . A new fire apparatus access road is not required for any of the following unless specifically required by <br /> the Fire District : <br /> a . Additions to existing buildings <_ 750 square feet , or ; <br /> b . Additions to existing buildings <_ 50 % of the gross floor area of the building . <br /> c . Newly constructed accessory buildings to a residential uses 750 square feet which are conditioned <br /> by mechanical heating and /or cooling systems . Accessory buildings include game rooms , pool houses , <br /> recreational rooms , guest houses and similar structures which are not a dwelling unit as defined in the <br /> California Residential Code . <br /> d . Group U occupancies as defined in the California Building Code . <br /> 2 . Plans and specification for the fire apparatus access road shall be included on the site plan that is <br /> submitted to the Building Department or Fire District for review and approval prior to construction of the <br /> fire apparatus access road . <br /> 3 . Fire apparatus access roads serving not more than two ( 2 ) structures on a single parcel shall comply <br /> with Exhibit " A " of this standard . <br /> 4 . Fire apparatus access roads serving three ( 3 ) or more structures or dwelling units on one ( 1 ) or more <br /> parcels shall comply with Exhibit " B " of this standard . <br /> 5 . When a fire apparatus access road is required for a Planned Unit Development ( PUD ) , it shall be <br /> constructed and approved by the Fire District having authority before the County Surveyor ' s Office will <br /> file the map for record . <br /> 6 . Parking is prohibited within the required 20 foot width of the fire apparatus access road . NO PARKING <br /> signs may be required . <br /> 7 . Fire apparatus access roads shall be completed prior to a final inspection and issuance of the <br /> Certificate of Occupancy , OR approval of release of utilities for modular homes , mobile homes , or moved <br /> structures <br /> 8 . When NO PARKING signs are required , they shall also include a reference to California Vehicle Code <br /> Section 22500 . 1 which prohibits , stopping , standing , or parking in a fire lane . <br /> 9 .
