Definitions : <br /> Planned Unit Development ( PUD ) or a Planned Residential Unit Development ( PRD ) : A residential <br /> subdivision or portion of land resulting in Three ( 3 ) or more dwelling units as approved and recorded in <br /> accordance with local planning and zoning regulations and the provisions of this standard . <br /> Public Way : Public way is any street , alley , or similar parcel of land essentially unobstructed from the <br /> ground to the sky , which is deeded , dedicated , or otherwise permanently appropriated to the public for <br /> public use . <br /> Private Road : A private road is any roadway or street serving one or more parcels and is not deeded , <br /> dedicated or otherwise appropriated to a public agency for use by the general public . <br /> EXHIBIT " A " <br /> TWO OR FEWER STRUCTURES ON A SINGLE PARCEL <br /> Construction and Design Requirements : <br /> 1 . The fire apparatus access road shall be designed and maintained to support the imposed loads of fire <br /> apparatus with a relative compaction of not less than ninety ( 90 ) percent and shall be provided with a <br /> surface to permit all weather driving capabilities ( see the structural section in EXHIBIT " C " ) . A <br /> compaction test may be required . <br /> 2 . The fire apparatus access road shall be designed and maintained to provide an unobstructed width of <br /> 20 feet and a vertical clearance of not less than13 feet 6 inches . No parking is allowed within the <br /> required width for the entire length of the road . NO PARKING signs may be required . <br /> 3 . The fire apparatus access road surface shall not allow the ponding of water . <br /> 4 . Gates shall not project into the required minimum width and be located to provide a minimum of 30 <br /> feet from the edge of the pavement for fire apparatus to stop when opening the gate . Closed and or <br /> locked gates shall be provided with an approved Knox® lock or key switch . Application for the Knox® <br /> products shall be obtained from the Fire District having jurisdiction . <br /> 5 . Turnarounds shall be provided no further than 150 feet from the dead end of the fire apparatus access <br /> road as provided in EXHIBIT " D " . A turning radius greater than 41 feet may be required by the Fire <br /> District having jurisdiction . <br /> 6 . On fire apparatus access roads longer than 500 feet in length , a reduction in width may be allowed <br /> with the addition of turnouts as determined by the Fire District having authority . Turnout dimensions shall <br /> be a minimum of 60 feet long and 10 feet wide at intervals to be determined by the Fire District having <br /> authority . Turnouts shall meet he same structural section required for the road . <br /> 7 . Bridges , box culverts , or low water crossings shall be designed for HS 20 -44 loading .
