Secure area. <br /> ❑ I = Isolate area and deny entry <br /> Perscnal Protective Equipment If not already worn, put on personal protective equipment — <br /> PE rubber gloves . <br /> Confine Spill Confine spill to initial spill area using appropriate control <br /> equipment and material . <br /> Absorb Spill Apply sorbent to spilled material (start at perimeter and work <br /> inwards) . For dry material spills, use wet paper towels to <br /> cover the spill area to prevent dust from becoming airborne . <br /> When complete , proceed to clean up . NEI <br /> Spill Area Clean Up Spill Waste : <br /> Scoop up material and any materials used to clean the spill <br /> and put them into a hazardous waste bag . Label the bag with <br /> name of hazardous material. Wipe up residual material . Wipe <br /> spill area surface 3 times with a detergent solution . Rinse <br /> with clean water . <br /> Reusable Spill Supplies : (e . g . , goggles , shovels, etc .) <br /> Collect supplies and remove gross contamination. Wipe <br /> surfaces so they are free of visible contamination. Put into <br /> separate bag that contains equipment that will be thoroughly <br /> washed with detergent and water . <br /> Disposal Procedure Important: Dispose of spill clean up materials as hazardous <br /> waste . <br /> Reporting Follow appropriate internal & external spill notification <br /> procedures . <br /> ❑ N = Notify proper authorities Code ORANGE) <br /> I .
