' August 7, 1987 Project 116-1.10 <br /> 2. Waste Management Unit Information <br /> WMU A <br /> ' WMU A is a Class II-1 landfill unit. The location of WMU A is shown on the <br /> attached location map (Figure 1) . The topography of the area in the <br /> ' vicinity of the subject site is shown on the topographic map (Figure 2) . <br /> WMU A covers approximately 8 acres, and has a capacity of about <br /> 320,000 cu.yds. No waste has been disposed into WMU A since October, 1984, <br /> and none will be accepted into WMU A in the future. A Closure Plan for WMU <br /> A is presently being prepared, and will be submitted in the fall of 1987. <br /> The following is a description of the wastes that were placed in WMU A. <br /> This list is as complete as possible based on all site records and <br /> manifests. Each waste is listed along with the waste generator. <br /> FMC Corporation Industrial Chemical Division- barium/strontium sludge, <br /> ' combined solids from the leaching and kiln gas scrubber <br /> operations containing as major components: barium and <br /> strontium sulfates, barium silicates, unburned carbon, <br /> strontium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, and calcium sulfate <br /> ' and sulfite. Minor components include barium and strontium <br /> sulfides, sodium sulfite and sulfate, iron and aluminum <br /> oxides, magnesium hydroxide, silica and trace quantities of <br /> numerous metal oxides, hydroxide and sulfides. The moisture <br /> content ramges from 20-50%, and there was no free water <br /> associated with the waste. Approximately 300,000 <br /> ' cu. yds. were placed in WMU A. The material contains <br /> hazardous constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 <br /> CFR 261. <br /> Chemical and Pigment Company- Soil contaminated with zinc, lead, copper, <br /> iron, magnesium, sodium, aluminum, silicon, nickel, <br /> cadmium, silver, chloride. The material contains <br /> ' hazardous constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of <br /> 40 CFR 261. <br /> Crowley Environmental- Soil contaminated with #2 diesel, oil sorbent <br /> material. The material contains hazardous <br /> constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR <br /> 261. <br /> ' C & S Battery- soil contaminated with lead. The material contains hazardous <br /> constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261. <br /> ' - 2 - <br /> GBeta c_4ssociates <br />
