August 7, 1987 Project 116-1.10
' Occidental Chemical Company- soil mixture of less than 50% vanadium.
phosphoric acid sludge, Calcium phosphate, silica
floride, phosphoric and sulphuric acid, and pesticide
and herbicide residues. Approximately 3,000
cu. yds. were placed in WMU A. The material contains
hazardous constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of
40 CFR 261.
' Procter and Gamble- Filter cake sludge containing principally silicon
dioxide with 4% copper, 2% chromium, and lesser
quantities of other heavy metals and cations, with a low
moisture content. 2,700 drums (40 gallon capacity) were
placed in WMU A. The material contains hazardous
constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261.
Southern Pacific Pipelines- Sludge containing tetraethyl lead at a maximum
concentration of 8.7 mg/kg. The material contains
' hazardous constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40
CFR 261.
Valley Wood Preserving- Soil contaminated with arsenic, chromium, and
' copper. Approximately 700 cu. yds. were disposed in
WMU A. The material contains hazardous
constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR
261.
Liquid Waste Corporation- Soil contaminated with chromium, zinc, nickel,
cadmium, floride, calcium hydroxide and inert solids. The
material contains hazardous constituents, as defined in
Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261.
Triangle, Inc. , Western Steel Conduit Division- filter cake sludge that is
an acidic, pickling liquor produced during the plating of
metallic conduit pipe. The waste is neutralized with a
sodium hydroxide solution, and when removed from the filter,
consists of the following components: 98% iron hydroxide
with minor amounts of iron oxide. The pH is 9.12. The
filter cake is typically 13.2% solid, by weight in the form
' of a wet, solid paste containing the metallic constituents
copper, cadmium, chromium, nickel, lead, silver and zinc.
1,000 cu. yds. were placed in WMU A. The material contains
' hazardous constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40
CFR 261.
' Turlock Wood Preserving- Soil (derived from waste storage operations)
contaminated with wood preserving chemicals including arsenic,
chromium, and copper sulphate. The material contains hazardous
' constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261.
- 3 -
' GBetac_4ssociates
