August 7, 1987 Project 116-1.10
Norden Chemical- Solid tank bottom sediment containing Urea Formaldehyde and
Resin, with a pH of 8.0. The material contains hazardous
constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261.
' Gimelli Brothers (waste haulers)- soil contaminated with oil, solid phenolic
resin waste water lime sludge, and sludge containing 1%
arsenic, and insoluble metal hydroxides at a pH of 8.0.
The material contains hazardous constituents, as defined in
Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261.
L.A. Winchell Company- Soil contaminated with battery acid. Approximately
' 425 cu. yds. were placed in WMU A. The material contains
hazardous constituents, as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR
261.
' Gold Bond Building- Fuel oil waste water. The waste was placed in solar
evaporation ponds, and the residue was then transported
to WMU A. The material contains hazardous constituents,
' as defined in Appendix VIII of 40 CFR 261.
Various generators- Rotary drilling fluid and mud, oil and gas well brines.
Approximately 150,000 barrels of drilling fluid (42
gal./bbl. ) , and approximately 200,000 barrels of brines
were disposed at the site. The waste was placed in
' solar evaporation ponds, and the residue was then
transported to WMU A. The material in WMU B is not
considered hazardous wastes, as defined in 40 CFR 261,
or hazardous constituents, as defined in Apendix VIII of
CFR 261.
WMU B
' WMU B is a Class III landfill unit. The location of WMU B is shown on the
attached location map (Figure 1) . WMU B covers approximately 8 acres, and
has a capacity of about 720,000 cu.yds. WMU B ceased operating temporarily
in the summer of 1986. A 1 foot thick soil cover was placed over the waste.
The unit will resume accepting waste after a master drainage plan for the
site is adopted, and the final waste management unit topography approved.
' The waste placed in WMU B consists of relatively dry commercial and
industrial solids and domestic waste generated in the San Joaquin County
service area. The waste is essentially dry with less than 2% consisting of
' wet putrescible garbage. The waste and soil cover material have filled the
unit to near capacity. The material in WMU B is not considered hazardous
wastes, as defined in 40 CFR 261, or hazardous constituents, as defined in
' Apendix VIII of CFR 261.
WMU C
' WMU C is a Class III landfill unit. The location of WMU C is shown on the
- 4 -
' GBetac_4ssociates
