The Discharger operates a recycling operation south of Littlejohns Creek. There are 200 to 400 cubic yards of recyclable materials generated each day. These materials include baled cardboard and paper, ferrous and nonferrous metals, and wood. The recycling operation is capable of processing up to 2,000 cubic yards per day of material. future plans include the installation of additional baling equipment, magnetic separa- tion equipment, glass and plastic recycling, and composting facilities. 28. 'Nonhazardous solid waste' is currently being placed. in WMU "D" at the ra e,, of 1,250 to 3,000 cubic yards per day. , 29. Asbestos will be discharged to WMU "D" and "N" at the rate of 1.,000 to P , 10,000 cubic yards per month. ` ; 30. Coal and wood ash will be placed in NMU "E" at the rate of 3,000 to 8,000 C ` cubic yards per month. 31. 'Nonhazardous liquid wastes' other than leachate will be placed in WMU "F" at approximately 16,000 gal/day. A"" 32. Soil contaminated with less than hazardous levels of petroleum hydrocarbons will be aerated at WMU "G" at a rate of up to 200 cubic yards per day, } depending on the degree of contamination and weather conditions. 33. The Discharger' s current plans indicate that WMU "D" will be expanded in three phases. WMU "D" will have an ultimate capacity of 5.4 million cubic yards and will be filled by 2011. 34. WMU "E" has a design capacity of 520,000 cubic yards. The new eastern-most pit has a capacity of 260,000 cubic yards and will be filled in four to eight years. New pits will be constructed in WMU "E" once the first pit is filled. 35. WMU "F" will have a surface area of approximately five acres. 36. WMU "G" covers an area of two acres. Up to 200 cubic yards of soil can be aerated there per day. In addition, piles of contaminated soil awaiting aeration will be stored at this WMU. The Discharger has operated a test land treatment plot and demonstrated that the soil contaminated with less than hazardous levels of petroleum hydrocarbons can be transformed to a 'nonhazardous solid waste' within the treatment zone. WMU "G" may be moved to a new location on the facility as existing iaiMUs are expanded or as new WMUs are built.
