9
FORWARD INCORPORATED
WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY
CLASS II LANDFILLS
CLASS III LANDFILLS
CLASS II SURFACE IMPOUNDMENT
CLASS lI LAND TREATMENT UNIT
SAW J8AOUIN COUNTY
' Forward Inc. operates a waste management facility on Austin Road, seven miles
southeast of the City of Stockton. The south fork of Littlejohns Creek
traverses the southern portion of the I57 -acre site. There are currently four
existing waste management units (WMUs) on the facility although only one is
currently being operated. The remaining three, one of which contains hazardous
waste, will be closed within two years. One Class II WMU that will be operated
as a landfill, is under construction. The two remaining WMUs, a Class ll l
surface impoundment and a and treatment unit, will probably be built within two
years.
The geologic materials immediately beneath the waste site are lenticular clay,
. sand, and minor amounts of gravel' Some of these lenses appear to be laterally
continuous underneath the site.
First ground water occurs beneath the site at a depth of approximately 50 feet.
Ground water flows beneath the site towards the northeast.
These WDRu were written to bring the facility into compliance with Subchapter
15. The Department of Health Services is participating with the Board in
regulating closure of the WMU containing hazardous waste.
TAC:1' 1/12/88
