Waste treatment, storage , and disposal activities
have occurred within approximately 50 Acres of the site .
The eight WMUs at the site , as designated by Waste Discharge
Requirements Order No. 88-023 , are as follows :
WMU "A" - Consists of four trenches covering an area of
eight acres . Each trench has a compacted clay liner
with a dendritic leachate collection system. The
trenches are filled with mostly "designated" and some
"hazardous waste" . This WMU is underg.oing closure.
WMU "B" - This Class III Landfill covers an area of
eight acres. Containing "nonhazardous solid waste" and
" inert waste" , this WMU has been inactive since 1986 .
WMU "C" - This Class III Landfill occupies the south
end of Trench 4 . Approximately one acre of the
Phase I portion has a compacted clay liner with a
dendritic leachate collection system. Leachate can be
pumped from the sump via a sump access port. This WMU
contains "nonhazardous solid waste" and " inert waste"
and is the current active unit. WMU "D' will be
contained within the area shown on ,Attachment C . This
will be done in three phases . During phases I and II ,
WMU ' D" will be extended to cover low portions of WMUs
"B" and "C WMUs B, C , and D will be filled in
approximately the year 2011 .
WMU "E" - This Class II Landfill has been constructed
to meet Subchapter 15 requirements, and is dedicated
for the disposal of coal and wood ash .
