January 30, 1987
Laboratory Analysis
Project 116-1.5
A complete QA plan for laboratory analysis is included in 'California Water
Labs, Mandatory Quality Assurance Programl.
For our own QA/QC program, duplicate set of water samples will be collected
from a couple of the new wells during the first sampling period, and will
be sent to Canonie Environmental Laboratory, in Stockton, California.
The same analyses will be requested as those performed at California Water
Labs.
Vadose Zone Monitoring
Soil samples will be collected from the vadose zone for laboratory analysis
of the soil and soil -pore liquid for the Solid Waste Assesment. Test (SWAT)
report to be submitted to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board. The samples will be collected from beneath the trenches for
determination of the soil -pore liquid quality and the chemical content of
soil that is most likely to have been affected by seepage from the
trenches. Sampling locations were chosen to be roughly evenly spaced
around the perimeter of the trenches since details of subsurface geology
near the trenches are not available.
A permanent vadose monitoring system will be installed to monitor the
vadose zone that may be affected by the Class II -1 disposal areas.
Information collected from the soil sampling for the SWAT report regarding
subsurface contitions will be used to design the permanent vadose
monitoring system.
The vadose monitoring system will designed and installed in March/May,
1987, after the initial vadose sampling is completed.
Thank you for your prompt review of this work plan. We look forward to
receiving your comments.
Respectfully submitted,
BETA ASSOCIATES
Jack E.
