Temperature: 250F (121C) <br /> Psi: 15psi (100kPa) <br /> M. Personal Protective Equipment: <br /> The practitioner uses single-use examination gloves and apron or bib. The <br /> client wears a bib over the area that will be pierced to eliminate the spillage of <br /> blood. <br /> N. Hand washing Sink: <br /> There is a hand washing sink in the restroom and procedure room. Both hand <br /> soap and paper towel dispenser are mounted on the wall and are touches so that <br /> they are easily accessible. <br /> O. Aftercare Procedure: <br /> All piercings must be cleaned three times per day with a sea salt solution until <br /> healed. Tattoos must clean 3 times a day with anti bacterial soap. Do not use <br /> alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on any piercings. For any oral piercings, the client <br /> must gargle with sea salt solution three times per day until healed. If not allergic, <br /> clients may take ibuprofen to help with pain and swelling and may also ice the area <br /> if needed. Tattoos and piercings should both be kept out of sunlight and bodies of <br /> water for up to 3-4 weeks after procedure. <br /> P. Procedure for an Accidental Spill: <br /> Contain the spill. For spills that contain sharps, such as needles, scalpels, <br /> broken glass, blood tubes or capillary tubes, or if it is a large volume of liquid, use <br /> a spi I kit to clean it up which will include a proper scooper to collect material. The <br /> absorbent power to the spill will be added and the solidified material will be <br /> collected and discarded in a biohazards waste container. If there are sharps <br /> present, discard waste in a sharps container. Alternatively, forceps, tongs, or a <br /> dustpan could be used to pick up sharps. Do not use hands. Spray disinfectant <br /> onto the spill and wipe clean with a paper towel or use a disinfectant wipe. <br /> Acccrding to OSHA, EPA-registered disinfectants labeled as effective against HIV <br /> and HBV are appropriate. When blood-borne pathogens other than HIV or HBV are <br /> of ccncern, OSHA requires use of EPA-registered tuberculocidal disinfectants <br /> hypochlo-ite solution (diluted 1:10 or 1:100 with water), according to the CDC's <br /> Guideline for Disinfection and Sterilization in Healthcare Facilities, 2008. <br /> Thor:)ugI-Iy wet the spill area with disinfectant and leave it for the correct contact <br /> time per the manufacturers instructions. <br /> Q.
