3. Engineering Review of Tanks & Equipment Covered by CalARP Program
C:\TRICH\Jobs\4515582 Leprino Tracy\Report\Leprino Tracy CalARP 040221.docx 3-9
vestibule. Each unit appears to be supported by four hangers at the top four corners of
the units. All hangers appear to be approximately 12 inches or less below the support
framing. Transverse and longitudinal bracing recommended in previous CalARP
evaluations has been installed.
Rail Vestibule
Evaporative coils EV-13 (Figures 3-64 and 3-65), EV-14 (Figures 3-66 and 3-67) and
EV-15 (Figures 3-68 and 3-69) are suspended from the roof framing of the rail vestibule.
Each unit appears to be supported by four hangers at the top four corners of the units.
All hangers appear to be approximately 12 inches or less below the support framing.
Transverse and longitudinal bracing recommended in previous CalARP evaluations has
been installed.
Product Cooler
Evaporative coils EV-18 and EV-19 are suspended from the roof framing of the product
cooler. Each unit appears to be supported by four hangers that are part of two trapezes
at the bottom of the units (Figure 3-70). The units are braced in the transverse direction
by Unistrut type struts to the adjacent wall at each end of both units at the top and
bottom of the units (Figure 3-71). It is unknown what strut members were used, but they
appear to be marginal. Based on site observations, it appears the adjacent wall is a
masonry partition wall with wood furring. It is unknown whether the struts are anchored
to the masonry wall or furring or how the furring is attached to the masonry. In the
longitudinal direction, the units appear to be connected by similar struts at the top of the
units which are in turn attached to the bottom of a roof glue laminated girder
(Figure 3-72). The struts and connection to the roof girder appear marginal. It is
recommended that additional analysis be performed to confirm the adequacy of the
existing bracing and design any new bracing as necessary.
Glycol Room 1
The Glycol Chiller GCH-1 and AV-306 are well mounted to a support frame with twelve
support legs (Figures 3-73 to 3-75). Based on recommendations from the previous
evaluation, all support skid legs have been anchored with a ½-inch diameter anchor
(Figure 3-76). The result of our anchorage analysis is a maximum DCR ratio of 0.69
indicating that the existing anchorage is adequate. This result is based on ½-inch
diameter post installed expansion anchors with an embedment of 3 ¼-inches. If actual
