Visual Impact Assessment Griffith Energy Storage Project
4.6.1 Key Observation Point 1
KOP 1 is located on Midway Road, approximately 0.14 mile southwest of the Project site. This KOP
depicts views oriented northeast toward the Project site.As shown in Figure 6,the existing landscape
setting is characterized by agricultural land relatively flat to hilly terrain. Existing structural features
include an agricultural building, Midway Road, fencing, transmission towers and lines, and utility
poles and lines.Vegetation includes grasses, ruderal vegetation, and a few stands of trees. Dominant
colors for the landscape are tans, browns, and greens while the structures are gray, white, green, and
brown. The vegetation consists of irregular organic forms:grasses are continuous with irregularly
shaped ruderal vegetation and trees. The linear and horizontal lines associated with the structures are
visible and prominent from this viewpoint. This KOP provides a typical view for drivers traveling along
Midway Road. Considering the short duration of viewing, viewers would have a low viewer sensitivity
to the visual changes in the area. This KOP also provides a typical view for the occupants of the
residence south of this KOP at the end of Midway Road. Considering the frequent viewing by local
residents and the proximity to the Project, viewers would have moderate to high sensitivity to the
visual changes on the Project site.
4.6.2 Key Observation Point 2
KOP 2 is located on Midway Road, approximately 0.12 mile west of the Project site. This KOP depicts
views oriented east toward the Project site.As shown in Figure 7,the existing landscape setting is
characterized by agricultural land ranging from relatively flat to hilly terrain. Existing structural
features include a residential building and garage, fencing, transmission towers and lines, and utility
poles and lines.Vegetation includes grasses, ruderal vegetation, and a few stands of trees. Dominant
colors for the landscape are tans, browns, and greens while the structures are gray, white, and brown.
The vegetation consists of irregular organic forms: grasses are continuous with irregularly shaped
ruderal vegetation and trees. The linear and horizontal lines associated with the structures are visible
and prominent from this viewpoint. This KOP provides a typical view for drivers traveling along
Midway Road.
