CROSS-CONTAMINATION <br /> Cross-contamination issues will be discussed with all body artists working at this facility. Some of the ways in which cross- <br /> contamination can occur in the tattooing area are as follows: <br /> • If one or more operators share the same equipment or materials. <br /> • If used and clean instruments come into contact with one another. <br /> • If clean instruments are placed on unclean surfaces. <br /> • If strict operator hygiene is not observed. <br /> • If contaminated dressings, spatulas,disposable gloves are not disposed of immediately and appropriately after use. <br /> • If structural facilities, furnishings, and fittings of the premises are not adequately protected, or thoroughly cleaned between <br /> clients. <br /> • If objects belonging to the facility are made of fabric and come in contact with a client. <br /> Operators should be aware of the potential for unprotected surfaces and equipment to become contaminated with blood and serum during <br /> tattooing. Some examples of how this can occur are as follows: <br /> • Adjusting overhead light fittings. <br /> • Adjusting settings on power packs. <br /> • Answering telephones. <br /> • Touching ink bottles or ink trays.Touching numbing agents bottles or jars. Reaching for more tips. <br /> • Touching curtains,drapes,or bin lids. <br /> • Adjusting furniture and equipment. Clients,operators,and the community can be at risk of cross-contamination occurs. <br /> • Opening drawers and/or cabinets. <br /> The work area will be properly covered with a barrier film, and all bottles and equipment covered properly to protect from <br /> contamination. If,during a procedure,the work must be stopped for any reason,the procedure site on the client will be covered <br /> by gauze or cling wrap. The work area will be covered with a Disposable lap cloth to protect it from contamination. <br /> SEP UP <br /> 1. Wash hands with soap and water,and don fresh gloves. Sanitize the tattoo area and all surfaces in which you will come into <br /> contact.Everything that will be touched or could be touched should be sanitized. <br /> 2. Remove and dispose of gloves and wash hands up to the elbow with soap and water for a minimum of 15 seconds. <br /> 3. Place a barrier on the counter or work surface. <br />
