4. Put on gloves and set up equipment such as ointment,ink caps,needles,tubes,inks,etc.Check expiration dates on applicable <br /> items. <br /> 5. Bag any bottle the artist may use and put barrier film on lamps,controls,arms of chairs and all,and any other surface you <br /> may come in contact with.Put sleeve covers on all clip cords. Once the tattoo machine is set up,a bag must be on the <br /> machine to cover the machine's head.Any time something new is touched outside of the tattoo area,gloves must be removed <br /> and thrown away and the handwashing process must start over. <br /> Tear Down <br /> 1. Cleanse the tattoo with soap and water.Apply ointment and a clean dressing. <br /> 2. Remove and dispose of gloves.Wash hands for a minimum of 15 seconds with soap and water,and put on new gloves. <br /> 3. Remove the barrier film and throw it in the trash. <br /> 4. Take the cover off the machine(s)and dispose of it in the trash.Place needles in a sharp's container.Throw disposable tubes <br /> in the trash. <br /> 5. All tubes and needle bars that are not disposable shall be physically cleaned with a detergent according to manufacturers' <br /> recommendations and then steam-sterilized(Auto Claves) <br /> 6. Remove bags from bottles and other containers that are covered and any other potentially contaminated items(including <br /> gloves)and throw them in the trash. <br /> 7. Disconnect the machine cord using a new pair of gloves and dispose of the plastic protector cord sleeve in the trash. <br /> 8. Spray the work surface with disinfectant and wipe it down. <br /> 9.
