The QA/QC CONSULTANT shall perform interface shear strength tests in accordance with ASTM D5321 that demonstrates that the minimum post-peak (@ 3-inch or more deformation) interfacial shear strength between the textured side of the HDPE Geomembrane and the cushion geotextile meet the following requirements:
Normal Stress (psf) Minimum Shear Stress (psf)
2,000 700 4,000 1,110 8,000 1,950 12,000 2,780
a. Post-peak conditions are defined as the point at which the applied shear stress remains constant with increasing displacement up to 3-inch or more. Perform the interface shear strength tests between the textured HDPE Geomembrane and the clay liner in accordance with the following: b. Spray textured side of site-specific HDPE geomembrane with water. c. Use test normal stresses of 2,000; 4,000; 8,000; and 12,000. d. Shear at 0.04 in./min per ASTM D 5321 to post-peak conditions of 3 inches or more.
