23 May 2023
Project No. 14-3154
AdvancedGeo
An Employee- Owned Company
Toxic Substances Control (DTSC-SLs); and 3) the May 2023 Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) Region 9 Regional Screening Levels for industrial soil (RSLs).
Soil stratigraphy and waste identification were determined from field data. Contaminant
impact to soil was quantified by laboratory analyses. A total of 13 soil samples were
collected and analyzed.
• The lithology of the site area from surface grade to approximately 11 feet bsg
consisted of dry, brown, silt with minor amounts of fine-grained sand. No odors,
waste, or discoloration were observed.
• Glass was not observed in borings T29136 and T291315. Pieces of trace glass cullet
were observed at 1 and 3 feet bsg in T29134 and between 3 and 4 feet bsg in the
remaining borings.
• Total PCBs were detected in samples T29-133-6, -134-4, -137-4, and -1394 at
concentrations of 0.52 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), 0.13 mg/kg, 0.13 mg/kg,
and 0.088 mg/kg, respectively (Table 1).
• Fifteen (15) PAHs and one (1) SVOC were detected in T291374 at low
concentrations ranging between 0.0066 mg/kg of 1 -methylnaphthalene and
1.8 mg/kg of pyrene. Six (6) PAHs were detected in T291354 at low concentrations
ranging between 0.0027 mg/kg of phenanthrene and 0.0061 mg/kg of
fluoranthene; and PAH phenol was detected in T29 -B10 -4, -B11-4, and -B14-4 at
concentrations ranging between 0.059 mg/kg and 0.21 mg/kg. All PAHs and
SVOCs detected in the soil samples are summarized in Table 2.
• Arsenic, barium, chromium, cobalt, copper, lead, nickel, vanadium, and zinc were
detected in all the soil samples analyzed at the following maximum concentrations:
arsenic at 8.9 mg/kg, barium at 110 mg/kg, chromium at 19 mg/kg, cobalt at
6.0 mg/kg, copper at 51 mg/kg, lead at 70 mg/kg, nickel at 12 mg/kg, vanadium at
56 mg/kg and zinc at 300 mg/kg (Table 3).
• Antimony, cadmium, and molybdenum were detected in T29133-6 at
concentrations of 8.9 mg/kg, 0.54 mg/kg, and 0.66 mg/kg, respectively;
molybdenum was also detected in T29132-11, T29137-4, T291314-4 at
concentrations of 1.2 mg/kg, 2.3 mg/kg, and 0.81 mg/kg, respectively. Additionally,
selenium was detected in T29137-4 at a concentration of 5.8 mg/kg (Table 3).
No additional analytes were reported above laboratory detection limits in the soil samples
analyzed. Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Tables 1 through 3. The
laboratory reports (MAI Work Order 2303N80), quality assurance and quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and chain of custody forms are included in Appendix F. Laboratory
electronic deliverable format (EDF) files will be QA/QC checked and uploaded to the State
Water Board GeoTracker site.
