(AGI) on behalf of ASP/RWM Properties LLC, <br />R&B Louise LLC, and R&B Delta LLC, for the former Pilkington North America (PNA) <br />Site at 500 East Louise Avenue in Lathrop, San Joaquin County (Site). The Work Plan <br />proposes advancement of soil borings to determine the presence of buried wastes or <br />glass waste cells located in proximity of former trench T-29. Central Valley Water Board <br />staff have provided a summary and comments on the Work Plan below. <br />SITE INVESTIGATION WORK PLAN SUMMARY <br />During excavation of Trench T-29 in July 2015, small pieces of steel, wire, broken <br />concrete, and minor glass were observed between 2 and 3 feet below ground surface <br />(bgs). Native soil was observed above and below the debris in T-29. The Work Plan <br />proposes advancement of 15 soil borings to locate, identify, and define the limits of any <br />subsurface waste in the proximity of former trench T-29. Direct -push soil borings will be <br />advanced to total depths of 10 feet below ground surface (bgs). Borings will be <br />advanced in a grid pattern covering approximately 2,400 square feet encompassing T- <br />29. Borings will be spaced 15 feet apart from east to west and approximately 20 feet <br />apart from north to south. Step -out sampling may be conducted to delineate the lateral <br />and vertical limits of encountered waste. <br />Soil cores collected from each of the borings will be logged using the Unified Soil <br />Classification System. A photoionization detector (PID) will be used to screen soil <br />samples in the field for the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Soil <br />samples will be collected using Geoprobe soil sampling assembly with acetate liners. <br />Upon sample retrieval, the soil core will be classified and inspected for waste.
