G . Spanos Jet Center contracted NWTLI to cleanout & inspect interiors of three ( 3) <br /> underground storage tanks located at 4800 S Airpor Way, Stockton CA . The contract was to <br /> complete the following ; purge , open and enter confined space ; clean out interior of USTs and <br /> I <br /> nspect using nationally recognized NLPA Standard 631 and API RP 1631 industry standards , <br /> Reseat lids to form airtight seal at entry points . A complete description of events is detailed below . <br /> On February 13 , 2023 , NWTLI field crew arrivedon -site to perform UST inspection work . <br /> Excavation was not performed as manway systems ere available . The total depth to the top of <br /> the tanks from grade was 34 feet deep . Each UST was, purged with forced air through an eductor- <br /> type air mover (venturi ) to maximize air volume . The atmosphere inside each tank was checked <br /> for the Lower Explosion Level ( LEL) . When the LEL was at a safe level , the tanks were opened <br /> using pneumatic tools , After the tanks were opened a certified confined space rescue worker <br /> entered the tanks with supplied air hood and fully protective clothing , The tanks were cleaned so <br /> that no residue remained on the tank walls . <br /> FINDINGS ON 20k - gal JET A ( T1 ) steel UST : <br /> Ultrasonic thickness ( UT) and visual test (VT) insp ction of the tanks' steel shell found no <br /> evidence of pitting , rusting , physical damage , water leakage , cracks , streaking , discoloration or <br /> other signs of structural instability ; a visual Inspection of the tank lining was conducted and at <br /> least 98% of the lining was visible for inspection ; lining passed thickness , hardness , electrical <br /> resistance holiday tests and is still performing accorditig to original design specifications . <br /> FINDINGS ON 20k - gal JET A ( T2 ) FRP UST ; <br /> Visual test (VT) inspection of the tank shell found no evidence of physical damage , water leakage , <br /> cracks , streaking , discoloration or other signs of structural instability ; a visual inspection of the <br /> FRP tank gel - coat was conducted and at least 98% was visible for inspection ; gel - coat passed <br /> hardness test and is still performing according to original design specifications . <br /> (888) TLC -TANK 2 ®r <br />
