APPENDIX "D" <br /> HANDLING INJURED EMPLOYEES <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To outline the procedure to be followed in the event of injury or illness which arises out of and <br /> in the course of employment. <br /> POLICY: <br /> First sid should be administered by trained personal having a current Red Cross standard fust <br /> aid card. All advanced treatment must be done by a licensed physician. <br /> Worker's Compensation Insurance is provided by the Company and a notice will be maintained <br /> on the bulletin board stating the name, phone number and address of the carrier, as well as the <br /> physician and /or medical facility to be used in the event of an on-the-job incurred injury <br /> requiring advanced treatment. <br /> PROCEDURE: <br /> SERIOUS INJURIES (requiring immediate emergency treatment): <br /> First Person on the Scene <br /> The first person to find or see the injured person should immediately contact a supervisor and <br /> a first aid trained person. Comfort the individual by assuring them that help is on the way. <br /> 1 Trained First Aid Person <br /> The first available person who is trained in first aid should take emergency first aid steps until. <br /> Emergency Services personnel arrive and take over treatment. <br /> Supervisor <br /> The supervisor should take charge of the area, assuring that adequate aid is provided and that <br /> all emergency procedures are followed. The supervisor will contact the ambulance service and <br /> the appropriate doctor for ail serious injuries. <br /> The supervisor will receive the ambulance, assist as necessary and direct the ambulance <br /> attendant to take the injured employee to Lodi Memorial Hospital . If <br /> possible , the supervisor should have a company employee go with the injured employee in the <br /> ambulance to provide reassurance and positive reinforcement. <br /> The supervisor should follow up to assure that arrangements have been made with the medical <br /> facility and the doctor, and that the appropriate individuals have been notified of the incident. <br /> Contact the injured employee's spouse or immediate family to inform them of the employee's <br /> status, and to reassure them that the injured party is receiving proper medical attention and <br /> treatment. <br /> Write up a supervisor's report of the injury as soon as reasonably possible. <br /> J <br /> 15 <br />
