<br /> <br /> Forward Compost Facility Stormwater Improvements 01100 1 SUMMARY <br /> SECTION 01100 SUMMARY PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 SECTION INCLUDES A. This section summarizes the project. Detailed requirements are included in the applicable Specification sections and on the Construction Drawings. 1.2 INTERPRETATION OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTS A. Specifications and Construction Drawings included in these Contract Documents establish the performance, quality requirements, location and general arrangement of materials and equipment, and establish the minimum standards for quality of workmanship and appearance. B. The Work for this project will be performed under two separate Contracts. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall perform the earthwork portions of the Work, as listed on the Bid Worksheet. The GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR shall perform the remaining geosynthetics portions of the Work. C. Where specification sections refer to the CONTRACTOR, the CONTRACTOR is defined as both the EARTHWORK and GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR. D. Specification sections have not been divided into groups for Work of Contractors or Subcontractors or various trades. Should there be questions concerning the applicability or interpretation of a particular section or part of a section or Construction Drawing, direct questions to the DESIGN ENGINEER. E. A part of the Work that is necessary or required to make each installation satisfactory and operable for its intended purpose, even though it is not specifically included in the Specifications or on the Drawings, shall be performed as incidental Work as if it were described in the Specifications and shown on the Construction Drawings. 1.3 PROJECT DESCRIPTION A. Location: The Forward Landfill comprises approximately 567-acres and is located at 9999 South Austin Road, Manteca, California, in Section 3, T15, R7E, MDB&M. It is approximately 7 miles southeast of Stockton, approximately 2 miles south of Arch Road and 2 miles north of French Camp Road. B. General Site History: The Forward Landfill was opened in 1973 and is owned and operated by Forward, Inc., a subsidiary of Allied Waste, Inc. Hazardous and designated wastes were received in an 8-acre waste management unit from 1979 through October 1984. In 1989, the hazardous waste unit was closed under the direction of the state and federal regulatory agencies. The landfill currently accepts municipal solid waste and commercial wastes. Commercial wastes are mainly comprised of contaminated soil. The Austin Road Landfill was opened in 1954 and was operated by the City of Stockton until Forward purchased the landfill in 2000. The Austin Road Landfill accepted primarily municipal wastes. The two landfills were combined under one permit in 2003 and are collectively referred to as the Forward Landfill. The Compost Facility is located in the
