In addition, the Coarse Gravel shall be <br />protected from any contamination that reduces the hydraulic conductivity. <br />Any contaminated material shall be removed and replaced at no cost to the <br />OWNER. <br /> <br /> <br />3.9 CONSTRUCTION OF GRANULAR DRAINAGE MATERIAL <br /> <br /> A. General Requirements: <br /> <br /> 1. GDM shall be placed in the gravel logs as shown on the Construction <br />Drawings or as required by the DESIGN ENGINEER. <br /> <br /> B. Granular Drainage Material Placement: <br /> <br /> 1. The geomembrane lining underlying the GDM layer shall be inspected and <br />approved by the QA/QC CONSULTANT prior to placement of the GDM. <br /> 2 Method of dumping and spreading materials shall ensure uniform <br />distribution of the material and prevent damage to the underlying <br />geomembrane lining. <br />3. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall use low ground pressure <br />equipment to place the granular drainage material. EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR is responsible for repairing any <br />geomembrane lining material damaged during GDM placement at no cost to <br />the OWNER. <br /> <br /> C. Quality Control: <br /> <br /> 1. General: As the GDM is being placed, the QA/QC CONSULTANT will be <br />monitoring the construction activities and soil properties. If tests conducted <br />by the QA/QC CONSULTANT indicate that the GDM does not meet <br />specified requirements, the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall <br />terminate material placement until corrective measures are taken.
