Samples may be cut for
shipping purposes, but a minimum of five square feet must be sent to the testing laboratory.
Samplers must mark the machine direction and the manufacturer's roll identification number on the
sample (each piece). Samplers will also assign an acceptance test number to the sample and mark
the sample with that number.

Test Results. The QA/QC Consultant will examine all results from laboratory acceptance testing and
will report any nonconformance to the Construction Manager.

Acceptance Test Failure. If a Geomembrane acceptance sample does not comply with the minimum
requirements of the Specifications, the Geomembrane roll from which the sample was taken will be
failed by the QA/QC Consultant, and replaced by the Geomembrane Manufacturer at no additional
cost to the Owner. The Design Engineer shall be contacted to determine additional acceptance
testing requirements.

4.2.3 Geomembrane Installation

Surface Preparation. The soil surface must be prepared in accordance with the Specifications.
Before geomembrane installation, the subgrade will be inspected by the QA/QC Inspector and
Geosynthetics Contractor. The QA/QC Inspector must verify the following:

 All lines and grades for soil surface have been verified by the Earthwork Contractor.

 The soil surface has been rolled and compacted to be free of surface irregularities, loose
soil, and protrusions.

 The soil surface does not contain stones or other objects that could damage the
geomembrane.

 The anchor trench dimensions have been checked, and the trenches are free of sharp
objects and stones.

 There are no excessively soft areas.

 The soil surface is not saturated, and no standing water is present.

 The soil surface has not desiccated.

 All construction stakes have been removed and there is no debris, rocks, or any other
objects in or on the soil surface.
