nnovative <br /> onstruction <br /> oiutions <br /> 13 . 3 EMERGENCY SPILL EVENT <br /> The release of an unknown hazardous material is considered an emergency spill event . ICS shall <br /> implement the following procedures during an emergency spill event : <br /> Step 1 . Evacuate the area and go upwind <br /> Step 2 . Warn others and direct them upwind <br /> Step 3 . Immediately contact the Site Safety Officer who will contact the HSM for direction <br /> 13 . 4 CLEAN - UP & DISPOSAL <br /> Step 1 . Clean - up the spilled material if safe to do so wearing the proper Personal Protective <br /> Equipment ( PPE ) as identified in the SDS or as prescribed in table 6- 2 PPE Requirements . <br /> Step 2 . Disposal of spill debris shall be pursuant to applicable laws and regulations for the type <br /> of material spilled . <br /> 13 . 5 NOTIFICATION AND REPORTING <br /> All spills are considered an " incident" and shall be reported internally according to ICS . Since <br /> many spills may require agency reporting within 24 hours, it is very important that internal <br /> notification occur immediately . The following summarizes required actions : <br /> Step 1 . Immediately notify the SSO <br /> Step 2 . SSO notifies the PM and HSM <br /> Step 3 . PM notifies the Client <br /> Step 4 . Client and ICS PM shall determine if the incident is reportable to an agency and will <br /> coordinate the required cleanup . <br /> 72 <br />
