Page Number Two
II FOUNDATION AND SOIL CONDITIONS
The general geology of the area indicates that the
soils at this site are alluvial soils. The general topography
of the area is flat and level ground.
The field investigations conducted at this site con-
sisted of drilling L. exploratory test holes to depths ranging
from 9 to 15 feet. These test holes were drilled with the Two-
Inch Modified California Type Soil Sampler. The undisturbed
core samples taken from the test holes were retained in brass
liners in order that the undisturbed nature of the soils would
be preserved until the samples could be tested in the laboratory.
The location of the test holes is shown on the Location
Map, Plate Number 1. The graphic log of the borings, together
with the drive blow record showing the number of blows required
to drive the sampler each foot, is shown on the Soil Profile
Sneet, Plate Number 2. The Soil Profile Legend is shown on
Plate Number 3.
Visual classification of each soil stratum encountered
was made in the field by a field geologist at the time the test
holes were drilled. The soil samples retained were checked in
the laboratory by a foundation engineer to augment the field
classification, and a description of each soil encountered is
shown on the Soil Profile Sheets.
The soil stratification encountered at this site was
very uniform.
