<br />Chemical Storage and Handling <br /> <br />Version #: 2.2 Date Revised: 09/28/2023 Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />Procedure <br />Chemical Cleanup <br />• Chemical spills indoors are cleaned using absorbent mats. <br />• Chemical spills outdoors may be cleaned using absorbent pellet bags or absorbent mats. <br />• All waste gathered during a chemical spill must be placed in the designated container for proper <br />disposal. <br /> <br />Use of Strong Taint or Scented Chemicals <br />• When using strong scented chemicals near raw materials, ventilation must be used and not pose a <br />contamination risk to product. <br /> <br />Incoming Chemicals <br />The following procedure must be followed to ensure that all chemicals used at Corto are properly evaluated <br />prior to being brought on-site. All chemical orders must follow this procedure, with no exceptions. <br />1. References the Approved Chemical List to verify if a chemical has been pre-approved. <br />a. If the chemical is listed, move forward with your purchase/order. <br />b. If the chemical is not listed, proceed to step 2. <br />2. Complete a Chemical Approval Form and submit it to the Safety Coordinator along with the chemical <br />SDS. <br />3. The Safety coordinator will evaluate the chemical. <br />a. If approved, the chemical will be added to the Approved Chemical List and the SDS is filed. <br />b. If denied, you will be notified of the reasons. <br /> <br />Removing Chemicals <br />The following procedure must be followed to ensure that old, outdated, and unused chemicals are removed <br />from Corto. Chemicals can decompose, react, or otherwise may become unstable and potentially pose a health <br />hazard. <br />1. Complete a Chemical Removal Form and submit it to a Safety Team Member. <br />a. The Chemical will be moved from the Approved Chemical List and SDSs will be archived from all <br />file locations by the Safety coordinator. <br />b.
