• Alarm system <br />• Telephones & radios <br />• Fire extinguishers <br />• Spill control & decon equipment <br />• Water at adequate volume & <br />pressure <br />▪Equipment must be tested & <br />maintained <br />Hazardous Waste & Universal Waste Management <br />Emergency Equipment <br />As hazardous waste generators, each of our sites is equipped with specific emergency <br />equipment that will be used for emergency response situations. Emergency equipment at <br />our sites includes the following: <br />•An internal alarm system that, when activated, will notify employees and students of an <br />emergency situation and provide instructions <br />•Telephones and radios that can be utilized to contact the police department, fire <br />department, or local emergency response team <br />•Portable fire extinguishers, fire control equipment, and spill control and <br />decontamination equipment to contain and clean up any spilled hazardous materials or <br />hazardous wastes <br />•And water at adequate volume and pressure to supply water hoses, automatic <br />sprinklers, and the water spray system <br />The emergency equipment must be routinely tested and maintained. Fire extinguishers <br />must be visually inspected monthly, and the inspections must be recorded. Plumbed <br />shower and eyewash stations must be operated monthly, and portable eyewash stations <br />must be inspected based on manufacturer specifications. <br />42
