We agree the leak detector is an
emergency repair. San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department is aware that emergency repairs are
often unplanned and may occur without notice. Accordingly, the Permit Guidance addresses EHD alternative to
the 48-hour notification policy for such situations.
Regarding the 48-hour notification requirement and any late notifications for like-for-like detector replacements,
please refer to the attached Permit Guidance document for our emergency repair permit requirement. Below
addresses emergency repairs:
EMERGENCY WORK: Emergency repairs are unplanned repairs relating to monitoring and release detection only.
Permits for non-emergency repairs must be approved by EHD prior to beginning work. Permit applications for
emergency repairs must be submitted within one (1) business day of the repair.
As such, the violations will remain open until a permit is pulled.
As a reminder, this site has experienced numerous emergency repairs. Please ensure that you and your staff are
familiar with the county's guidance to prevent any future misunderstandings.
Best,
Kristina Saetern
Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E.
