HSC 118280 – Biohazard bags shal be containerized and stored pursuant to this section. <br /> <br />OBSERVATION: <br />1. Untied biohazardous bags were observed inside the secondary container in the accumulation area. <br />2. A biohazardous bag was observed on the floor in the accumulation area, corrected. (Photo 4) <br />3. Biohazardous waste is onsite for more than 7 days. Per Frank Cervantes, biohazardous waste is picked -up by Barnett Medical <br />every 2 weeks. <br /> <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: <br />1. Biohazardous bags shall be tied to prevent leakage or expulsion of contents during all future storage and handling. Submit photos <br />of corrections. Provide training and submit training records. <br />2. Provide training and submit training records. <br />3. Facilities generating 20 or more pounds of biohazardous waste per month, shall not contain or store that waste above 0° <br />Centigrade (32° Fahrenheit) at an onsite location for more than seven days without obtaining prior written approval of the <br />enforcement agency. Provide updated contract with Barnett demonstrating biohazardous waste will be picked-up every 7 days. <br /> <br />30. HSC 118310 – Designated accumulation area shall be secured and marked with proper signage. <br />OBSERVATION: <br />The designated accumulation area does not have adequate warning signs. (Photo 2) <br /> <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: <br />Designated accumulation areas shall be marked with warning signs. The wording of warning signs shall be in English, <br />“CAUTION—BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA—UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT,” and in Spanish, <br />“CUIDADO—ZONA DE RESIDUOS—BIOLOGICOS PELIGROSOS—PROHIBIDA LA ENTRADA A PERSONAS NO <br />AUTORIZADAS,” or in another language, in addition to English, determined to be appropriate by the infection control staff or <br />enforcement agency. Per Frank Cervantes, Windsor was acquired by New Gen. The ownership change is still in progress and has not been <br />finalized. <br />3. Barnett Medical Services is the medical waste hauler for the facility. <br />4. The biohazardous bags meet the ASTM D1709 AND ASTM D1922 standard.
