Revised Workplan-Additional Site Investigation for PFAS BSK Project E20-016-01F
Stockton Metropolitan Airport(SCK) March 1, 2023
Stockton, California Page 27
6.4 Soil Boring Abandonment
Completed probes (DPT) or hollow stem auger borings will be sealed using a cement-bentonite grout by
free-fall or as required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department permit(s). Borings
used for vertical definition of groundwater will be sealed with cement-bentonite grout, pumped into the
auger from bottom to top as the augers are removed one section at a time during grouting. Paved surfaces
will be patched with cold patch or cement.
6.5 Equipment Decontamination Procedures
Drilling and sampling equipment will be cleaned between boring locations. Drilling equipment will be
steam-cleaned, or pressure washed between boring locations with potable water. Reusable sampling
equipment will be decontaminated prior to and between sample points with phosphate-free laboratory-
grade detergent mixed with potable water certified to be PFAS-free. Disposable equipment will be utilized
when possible and appropriate.
6.6 Investigation Derived Waste
Investigation-Derived Wastes (IDW) will generally consist of soil cuttings and unused soil samples, used
sampling materials, development/purge water from monitoring wells, equipment rinsate (water-
detergent mixture, pressure-washing fluids), and discarded sampling gloves and personal protective
equipment.
Equipment rinsate will be containerized during drilling activities in the drilling contractor's trailer-
mounted portable polyethylene tank. Equipment rinsate (water-detergent mixture) will be transferred
from the polyethylene tank, drummed, labeled, and staged on Site at a Client-approved location pending
results of water IDW profile sample(s). Cuttings will be contained in a roll-off bin and staged on site at a
Client-approved location pending results of IDW profile samples. Sampling materials (i.e., tubing, gloves,
bailers, plastic sheeting, etc.,)will be contained in a separate 55-gallon drum.
After sampling activities are complete, representative composite waste profile samples will be collected
for both solid and liquid IDW. Samples will be collected into laboratory-supplied containers and placed
into a cooler chilled with bagged wet ice. New,disposable nitrile gloves will be donned prior to collection
of each sample.
