Appendix A-Sampling and Analysis Plan BSK Project E19-016-01F
Stockton Metropolitan Airport(SCK) March 1, 2023
Stockton, California Page 11
5. FIELD QUALITY CONTROL SAMPLES
Field quality control samples will consist of duplicate samples, trip blanks, equipment rinsate samples(i.e.,
equipment blank), and field blanks. Quality control samples will be water samples analyzed for PFAS only.
No quality control soil samples will be collected.
5.1 Duplicate Samples
Sample duplicates will be collected to document the precision of the sampling process. One duplicate
groundwater sample will be collected per boring when collecting groundwater samples for chemical
analysis. Duplicate samples will be given a unique sample identification but will receive the same
sampling time as the main sample. The duplicate sample identification will be recorded on the well
sample logs.
5.2 Trip Blanks
Trip blanks will be used to document contamination attributable to sample transport and field handling
procedures. Trip blanks will be provided by the laboratory by filling a sample container will reagent water
and storing it with the sample bottles. During sampling activities, the trip blank will be transferred to the
cooler after the first sample of the day is collected. Trip blanks should be prepared at a frequency of one
per day of groundwater sampling.
5.3 Equipment Rinsate Samples
Equipment rinsate samples will be used to document proper cleansing of non-disposable sampling
equipment. One rinsate sample will be collected per day of groundwater sampling where a groundwater
sample was collected for chemical analysis. Equipment blank samples would be collected at the end of
the day. Equipment rinsate samples will be obtained by running laboratory provided reagent water
through or over the cleansed sample collected equipment. Reagent water will be collected into the
sample bottle and sealed. The sample will be bagged and placed inside the ice chest.
5.4 Field Blanks
A field blank will be analyzed to assess the potential for PFAS from the ambient environment being
introduced during the sampling activities. One field blank sample will be collected per day of groundwater
sampling where a groundwater sample was collected for chemical analysis. Afield blank must be stored
in the ice chest used to store and transport samples. The field blank procedure is as follows:At the sample
point, the sample personnel must open the field blank sample bottle, pour the reagent water into the
sample bottle and seal. The sample will be bagged and placed inside the ice chest. The empty container
that contained the field reagent water must also be returned to the laboratory.
a
