HASP-Additional Site Investigation for PFAS BSK Project#E20-016-01F
Stockton Metropolitan Airport(SCK) May 5,2023
Stockton, California Page 9
• chemical resistant over gloves;
• Tyvek° coveralls;
• muck boots;
• half face respirators with organic vapor cartridges and dust prefilters;
• full face respirators with organic vapor cartridges and dust prefilters; and
• supplied air respirators.
6. SITE CONTROL
Entry into hazardous areas is limited to individuals who must work in those areas and are qualified to do
so. Authorized visitors may be allowed to enter the work/exclusion zone only if they have read and
understand this document and have agreed to abide by the requirements set forth, have the requisite
OSHA certifications, are willing to follow the instructions of the SSO, and have been informed of the
potential hazards and risks.
In the case of an excavation, orange traffic cones and/or barricades are used to delineate an exclusion
zone around the work Site, including the excavation and power equipment. Barriers should be set at a
25-foot radius (as practical) around the Site. At the end of a workday, excavations and work Sites are
secured to prevent accidental ingress by persons on foot or in vehicles. On Sites where a drilling rig is
used, borings are covered or otherwise secured.
If decontamination of equipment and personnel occurs on Site, all decontamination fluids must be
drummed, with the drums properly marked and labeled. Labeling includes at least the date, boring
number, content of drum (i.e.,soil,water, etc.) and depth interval, if appropriate. Soil cuttings are placed
on and covered with plastic sheeting or placed in an on-Site roll off bin.
7. DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES
Drilling rig equipment will be cleaned on-Site by the operator / sub-contractor responsible for them.
Rinsate water will be drummed, labeled appropriately, and stored on Site for characterization and
removal. Sampling equipment, probes, and meters can be washed on Site using a phosphate free
detergent and potable water between measurements and sample collection. Rinsate water will be
drummed, labeled appropriately, and stored on Site for characterization and removal.
Boots and non-disposable gloves can be cleaned with a stiff bristled brush, phosphate free detergent, and
potable water. Disposable gloves,Tyvek suits,and disposable boot covers are to be bagged and drummed
on-Site along with any other refuse produced during the subsurface investigation. If used, respirators are
washed, sanitized, and stored in a clean plastic bag or case. Each employee is responsible for cleaning
and maintaining his/her respirator.
