<br /> <br />North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill Permit Revision Project <br />Final Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration · San Joaquin County | May 2025 <br />67 <br /> <br />sacred place, or object with cultural value to a California Native American tribe, and <br />that is: <br />i) Listed or eligible for listing in the California Register of Historical Resources, <br />or in a local register of historical resources as defined in Public Resources <br />Code section 5020.1(k)? <br />ii) A resource determined by the lead agency, in its discretion and supported by <br />substantial evidence, to be significant pursuant to criteria set forth in <br />subdivision (c) of Public Resources Code section 5024.1? In applying the <br />criteria set forth in subdivision (c) of Public Resources Code section 5024.1, <br />the lead agency shall consider the significance of the resource to a California <br />Native American tribe. <br />Less-than-Significant Impact with Mitigation Incorporated <br /> <br />The potential exists for unknown tribal cultural resources to be discovered during earth- <br />disturbing landfill activities, such as excavation, that could occur in the course of future <br />operational activities. Thus, the project would have a potentially significant impact. <br />MITIGATION MEASURES <br />Implementation of Mitigation Measure CUL-1 (see Section 4.2.5, Cultural Resources) would <br />ensure that any accidentally discovered tribal cultural resources would be treated with proper <br />care during future ground-disturbing activity at the project site. With implementation of <br />Mitigation Measure CUL-1, the project’s potential impact would be reduced to a less-than- <br />significant level. <br />
