WASTE CLASSIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />3.1. Waste Types <br /> <br />The Foothill Sanitary Landfill is permitted as a Class III landfill. <br />The Solid Waste Facility Permit allows the landfill to accept: <br /> <br />Agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial wastes <br />Construction and demolition debris <br />Small loads of soil and gravel <br />Yard waste <br />Small dead animals <br />Large dead animals (with prior permission from San Joaquin County EHD) <br />Wood waste <br />Manure <br />Stumps and logs <br />White goods such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units. <br />Tires <br />Dewatered sludge <br />Abandoned vehicles <br /> <br /> A refuse characterization study has not been performed at the site; however, it is <br />assumed that the refuse received at the site is similar to previous studies (Table 1). <br /> <br /> Septic tank wastes, toxic materials, five gallon or larger drums, infectious wastes, liquid <br />wastes including automotive fluids, cannery wastes, hazardous wastes, trailers, and burned <br />wastes are not accepted. <br /> <br /> Electronic wastes are accepted and managed in accordance with current state law. <br />Television sets and computer monitors are removed from the waste stream for recycling (see <br />Appendix G). <br />
