Foothill Sanitary Landfill Page 15 of 53 San Joaquin County DPW - Solid Waste
Joint Technical Document Revised 6/09/2020

4.10.2.4. Springs
There are no springs on the property.

4.10.3. Groundwater Quality
Background groundwater quality in the uppermost aquifer at the site is relatively good including
total dissolved solids (TDS) at about 210 mg/L, electrical conductivity at about 270 mg/L,
chloride at about 6 mg/L, sulfate at about 8 mg/L, and bicarbonate alkalinity at about 140 mg/L
(2015 WDR).

4.10.4. Groundwater Use
Groundwater use on and surrounding the property is agricultural, domestic supply, and
groundwater monitoring.

Eight wells were identified within 1 mile of the landfill site. The screened sections of these wells
vary between bottom depths of 255 feet to as deep as 467 feet (Appendix H). One off-site well
appears to be down gradient, west-southwest of the site (review of California Department of
Water Resources files reported in “Report of Waste Discharge Related to the Permitting and
Installation of Composite Landfill Liner System for Module 1 and Future Modules”, Emcon,
2002; and by Kleinfelder Inc, August 2004).

There are eight (8) wells on the property. These include a domestic well and seven (7)
groundwater monitoring wells.

4.11. Ancillary and Other Site Facilities
The ancillary facilities associated with the landfill (Figure 2) are:

Scale house
Perimeter and internal access roads
Maintenance building
On-site residential structures
Employee lunchroom trailer and portable restroom
