If
there is evidence of smoldering fires, then water will again be applied over
the burnt area and more soil will be placed.

7.2.2. Grass Fire Control:

• Small grass fires at the site if they occur are extinguished using the water
truck.
• Linden Peters Fire Department is notified regarding large fires beyond the
control of site personnel.

All fire incidents will be recorded in the Special Occurrences Log and the LEA will be notified of
the details of the incident.

7.3. Water Infiltration Control
The landfill operator uses daily cover and berms near the active area to divert storm water away
from the active area so that it does not come into contact with the waste; thereby reducing the
generation of leachate.

7.4. Dust Control
Dust from site operations is controlled by spraying water on haul roads, including spraying soil
cover work areas when conditions might create excessive dust, also planting vegetation on
intermediate soil covers and on completed fill areas.

Water spraying is accomplished with the use of water trucks with sprinklers on the front and
back. Frequency of water application is dependent upon the season and site conditions. The
most frequent application will occur during the summer in windy conditions. The performance
standard of “controlling visible dust” dictates the frequency of water application.

On-site water trucks are used for dust control. The trucks are filled using an overhead fill at the
site’s water well or from the pond on the property.
