annual basis. Partners are trafned to look for and avoid sharps that may be present in products
being processed, and sharps containers for proper containment and disposal are provided in all
applicable areas,
Ergonomic Ftazards — Several jobs within the facility and on route involve manual material
handling and/or repetitive motion- The Company provides training in proper lifting techniques [see
SafelifVSafe move programs] for production personrW, and specialized training [Industrial Athlete
programJ for route drivers and IoadmJunload ers, In addition, all partners are required to attend
stretch and ilex exercises on a twicefdaily basis at a minimum. The Company also contirnuously
evaluates and implements ergonomic improverneants as needed, such as adjustable worktables in
production, and grab handles and rails in trucks [3,points of Contact program] and maintains a
Ergonomics Solutions database for all Olntas locations.
Industria! Hygiene Surveys
Industrial hygiene surveys will be conducted as needed based on the initial workplace review of
potential hazards and employee exposures- Additional surveys will be conducted as needed as
ou5ned in the sarpling strategy below.
Sampling Strategy
The location sampling schedule is attached. initial sampling will typically consist of grab sampling
or screening with direct-reading instruments to assess the nature and location of potential
hazards- In situations where the initial sampling indicates thea may be an exposure issue, full-
shift personal sampling will be conducted. In addition to personal sampling conducted as a follow
up to the initial screening, the following situations will be evaluated for exposure potential and
appropriate monitoring performed as needed:
• When the facility handles products that may contain Cal-OSHA regulated substances
(a-g. lead, arsenic. cadmium, hexavalent chromium), or other particularly hazardous
chemicals, The Company has specific handling procedures for these types of materials
emphasizing "non-contact" methods and exposure is expected to be minimal. Because
the materials ate completely enclosed in containers and the airborne exposure potential
is minimal, sampling focuses on surface wipes to ensure that contamination is not being
transferred to employees during handling,
* When employees have complained of illness or symptoms tl~at may be related to an
exposure to a substance in the workplace-
• When processes, equipment, or materials are changed that may affect exposures-
When environmental conditions dic#ate, a-g., heat
In response to a chemical spill or upset in process conditions-
+ To monitor potential hazards of non-routine tasks-
+ To evaluate the effecthreness of control methods.
Sampling Methods
Sampling tivill be performed by an industrial hygienist or another member of the safety staff who
has been trained in IH sampling procedures. In some instances. qualified outside industrial
hygiene contractors may be utilized to conduct sampling. Grab sampling or screening will be
performed during tasks that are representative of workers' typical exposures, or during 'worst
4
